Romantiek ten top bij Amatis Pianotrio in Jagthuis

Met een luguber begin en een 'mars funèbre' als slotalinea van het Eerste Trio Élégiaque van Rachmaninov opent het Amatis Pianotrio zijn concert in het Jagthuis. Gedurende 15 minuten waant u zich in het Rusland van het einde van de 19e eeuw: hartstocht, weemoed, meeslepende melodieën, door het Amatis trio in prachtig samenspel uitgevoerd.

Na Rachmaninov neemt het trio u mee in het heerlijke Geistertrio van Beethoven. We zijn dan in het Wenen van de vroege 19e eeuw. Na de pauze blijven we daar met Schubert's tweede pianotrio. Dit trio zou een van Schuberts laatste werken worden. Melodieën uit dit trio zijn als muzikale thema's in verschillende films verwerkt. Romantiek… Al met al is dit programma voor de pauze iets korter dan u gewend bent, na de pauze echter wat langer.

Het Amatis Pianotrio bestaat uit de Duitse violiste Lea Hausmann, de Britse cellist Samuel Sheperd en de Nederlands/Chinese pianist Mengjie Han. Mengjie kwam o.a. in het nieuws toen hij in 2014 de derde èn de publieksprijs bij het internationale Lisztconcours won. Alle drie studeerden aan het Amsterdams conservatorium. De ster van het Amatis Pianotrio rijst buitengewoon snel en we prijzen ons dan ook zeer gelukkig dat het drietal binnenkort in het Jagthuis te horen is. Reserveren dringend aanbevolen!

Biografie Amatis Pianotrio

Het Amatis Pianotrio werd opgericht in Amsterdam in 2014 door drie zeer getalenteerde jonge musici: de Duitse Lea Hausmann - viool, de Britse cellist Samuel Shepherd en de Nederlands/Chinese Mengjie Han - piano. In hetzelfde jaar won het trio de publieksprijs bij het Grachtenfestival. Hierdoor kregen zij diverse concerten in Nederland aangeboden. Het trio werd als een van slechts vier pianotrios toegelaten tot de prestigieuze International Chamber Music Academy in Trondheim, Noorwegen. Daar werkten zij met Daniel Hope (Beaux Arts Trio), Miguel da Silva (Ysaye Quartett) en Hatto Beyerle (Alban Berg Quartett). Hun eerste grote internationale succes kwam in 2015 bij de International Chamber Music Competition ‘Schubert and Modern Music’ in Graz, waar zij de jongste finalisten waren. In het seizoen 2016-2017 zal het trio door Nederland toeren als gevolg van hun nominatie voor de Dutch Classical Talent Award.

Lea Hausmann (Frankfurt) kreeg in 2015 haar bachelor met de hoogste onderscheiding aan het Mozarteum in Salzburg. Samuel Shepherd (Londen) studeerde in Manchester en Amsterdam en maakte zijn debuut recital in de kleine zaal van het Concertgebouw in 2013. 
Mengjie Han (Shanghai) kreeg - naast vele eerdere prijzen - in 2014 de derde prijs en de publieksprijs van het internationale Liszt Concours in Utrecht. 

Lea Hausmann (1993, Frankfurt, Germany) started playing the violin at the age of three. She was admitted to the University of Music in Nürnberg at the age of ten, where she continued her studies with Daniel Gaede (former concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra).
In 2009 Lea received a place at the prestigious Idyllwild Arts Academy (USA), where she studied with Todor Pelev. In 2010 Lea entered the Mozarteum University in Salzburg (Austria) to study with Lukas Hagen. After a successful year at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where she received tuition from Ilya Grubert, she returned to Salzburg in 2015 and received the Bachelor of Music degree with highest honor.

Lea has made an appearance at numerous music festivals, such as the Kronberg Academy Chamber Music Festival, the Sarasota Music Festival, the Salzburg Chamber Music Festival, the Hagen-Open Festival and the Festival Musicale di Portogruaro. As a soloist she has performed with the Frankfurt Chamber Orchestra on many occasions, including performances of Sarasate’s “Gypsy Airs”, the Mozart Concertos and the “Carmen-Fantasy” of Bizet in an arrangement of Franz Waxman.

She has received masterclasses from Benjamin Schmid, Esther Hoppe, Mauricio Fuks, Igor Ozim, Daniel Hope, Enrico Bronzi and Rainer Schmidt. Lea was awarded the second prize at the International Ruggiero Ricci Violin Competition in 2013.

Samuel Shepherd (1989, London, United Kingdom) began playing the cello at the age of ten. In 2001 Sam enrolled at the prestigious Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, where he studied with David Smith.

Sam won the Music at Beaulieu Award first prize in 2007 and the following year he was awarded the William Warburton scholarship, which allowed him to continue his studies with Peter Dixon (principle cellist of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra) at the Royal Northern College of Music.

In 2011 Sam enrolled at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where he continued his studies with Floris Mijnders and Daniël Esser, as well as receiving regular tuition from legendary Dutch cellist Anner Bylsma. The following year he got accepted to the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra Academy, which allowed him to work with the orchestra throughout the 2012-2013 concert season.

Sam has recently performed at prestigious events, such as the Festival Classique (The Hague), the Uitmarkt Festival and the Amsterdam Cello Biënnale. He has received masterclasses from Pavel Fischer, Petr Prause, Steven Doane, Ralph Kirshbaum, Karine Georgian and Gary Hoffman. Sam made his debut recital at the Kleine Zaal of the Concertgebouw in September 2013.

Mengjie Han (1989, Shanghai, China) received the 3rd Prize and Audience Prize in the International Franz Liszt Competition in 2014. He first started playing the piano at the age of six. He enrolled in the Young Talent programme of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague at the age of nine, under the tutelage of Marlies van Gent. He finished his Master of Music studies with professor Jan Wijn at the Conservatory of Amsterdam.

During his adolescence Mengjie won numerous prizes at national and international piano competitions, such as the International Steinway Piano competition (1997, 2002, 2006), the Young Pianist Foundation national piano competition (2001, 2004), the Princess Christina Competition (2009) and the Maria Compina International Piano Competition in Faro, Portugal.

In 2014, Mengjie won Third Prize at the 10th International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht. He received his prize in the main hall of TivoliVredenburg, in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Máxima. During the Grand Finals Mengjie played Liszt’s Totentanz with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of James Gaffigan. Mengjie also took home the Capgemini Audience Award. He is the first Dutch Prize winner of the Liszt Competition since nine years. As Prize winner of the Liszt Competition he will embark on an extensive concert tour, taking him all over the world.
